The Federal Government has announced a nationwide ban on the admission and transfer of students into Senior Secondary School Three (SS3), citing the need to safeguard academic standards and ensure proper preparation for external examinations.
The directive, issued by the Federal Ministry of Education, applies to all public and private secondary schools across the country. According to the ministry, students are required to complete the full senior secondary education cycle to be adequately prepared for critical examinations such as WAEC and NECO.
Education authorities explained that late admissions or transfers into SS3 often disrupt academic continuity, undermine curriculum coverage and place students at a disadvantage during final examinations. The ban, they said, is aimed at promoting fairness, quality assurance and uniformity in the secondary education system.
School administrators have been directed to comply strictly with the policy, while parents and guardians were advised to ensure that student transfers are completed at appropriate levels before SS3.
The ministry further warned that schools found violating the directive would face sanctions in line with existing education regulations.
The policy underscores the Federal Government’s ongoing efforts to strengthen secondary education standards and improve learning outcomes nationwide.
