Pan-Atlantic University has announced the death of its pioneer Vice-Chancellor and Founding Dean of Lagos Business School, Prof Albert Alos, who died on September 5, 2026, at the age of 87.
The university disclosed this in a statement issued by its Communications Unit on Monday, describing the death as a significant loss to the institution and the wider education community.
The university described Alos as a visionary educator, distinguished scholar and institution builder whose leadership and commitment to academic excellence played a significant role in the development of Pan-Atlantic University and Lagos Business School.
According to the institution, his contributions extended beyond academic administration, as he helped shape a culture of excellence, ethical leadership and service that remains central to its mission.
“Pan-Atlantic University announces, with profound sadness, the passing of Prof Albert Alos, pioneer Vice-Chancellor of Pan-Atlantic University and Founding Dean of Lagos Business School, who passed away on September 5, 2026,” the statement said.
The university praised the late professor for his leadership, wisdom and dedication to education, noting that his work contributed to the development of generations of leaders serving Nigeria, Africa and the wider world.
“As the University’s pioneer Vice-Chancellor and the Founding Dean of Lagos Business School, Professor Alos helped establish a culture of academic excellence, ethical leadership and service that remains central to the institution’s mission and values today,” it added.
Pan-Atlantic University said Alos’s influence went beyond the classroom, as he inspired students, faculty members, staff, alumni and colleagues through his professionalism, integrity and commitment to the common good.
The institution said his legacy remains deeply connected to the history and ethos of the university.
“As a teacher, mentor and leader, he inspired countless individuals through his wisdom, integrity and service. His contributions will continue to influence generations to come,” the statement added.
The university further acknowledged Alos’s role in laying the foundation for an institution focused on developing competent and responsible leaders.
It said his vision and dedication helped shape an educational philosophy that continues to guide Pan-Atlantic University and Lagos Business School in their pursuit of academic and professional excellence.
