The Vice-Chancellor of Caleb University, Imota, Lagos State, Prof. Olalekan Asikhia, has said the institution is strategically positioning itself to rank among Nigeria’s top five universities and ultimately become the nation’s number one by the 2026/2027 academic session.
This was disclosed in a statement by the university’s Information, Media and Publication Specialist, Olawale Adekoya, following Asikhia’s presentation of his 100-day scorecard during the 2025/2026 colloquium.
Since assuming office on June 1, the Vice-Chancellor has pursued a seven-point agenda centred on academic excellence, research and innovation, entrepreneurship, governance, financial sustainability, and climate action.
Among early reforms, Asikhia highlighted the launch of the Caleb Academic Potential Scheme, designed to assist students with low grades, a revamped results management system to eliminate transcript delays, and the planned introduction of a merit-based scholarship examination.
The VC also expressed satisfaction with the institution’s rising popularity. He noted that over 2,500 students were admitted during the 2025 intake, with Computer Science, Mass Communication, and International Relations recording the highest enrolments.
“Our first 100 days have laid a strong foundation for excellence, innovation, and global competitiveness,” Asikhia said. “We remain focused on building a world-class university that produces graduates who will shape the future.”
Caleb University is a private institution established in 2007 and has steadily grown its reputation as a centre for academic and entrepreneurial development,
