Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa of Ondo State has called on members of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) to uphold the values of patriotism, discipline, selflessness, and integrity as they embark on their service year.
The governor gave the charge during the official swearing-in ceremony of the 2025 Batch ‘B’ Stream II corps members at the NYSC Permanent Orientation Camp in Ikare-Akoko.
Service Year as a Defining Opportunity
Governor Aiyedatiwa described the NYSC year as a “golden opportunity” for young Nigerians, urging corps members to view their deployment not as a routine assignment but as a platform to make meaningful contributions to their host communities.
He noted that beyond academic qualifications, the nation expects corps members to demonstrate character, innovation, and leadership, stressing that the service year should serve as a foundation for building a united and prosperous Nigeria.
Commitment to National Unity
The governor reaffirmed his administration’s support for the NYSC scheme in Ondo State, highlighting its role in fostering unity, cultural integration, and national development. He encouraged the corps members to engage actively in community service projects that address local needs, while also building skills that will benefit them in the future.
“I urge you to leave indelible marks wherever you are posted. Let your service reflect the spirit of unity and progress for which the NYSC was established,” Aiyedatiwa said.
The governor assured corps members of a safe and conducive environment to carry out their assignments across the state.
