ABU Zaria Introduces Criminology and Security Studies for 2025/2026 Academic Session

Ahmadu Bello University (ABU), Zaria, has announced the introduction of a new academic programme, Criminology and Security Studies, beginning with the 2025/2026 admission session. The development marks another milestone in the university’s ongoing expansion of its academic portfolio and commitment to addressing contemporary national challenges through education.

According to a statement released by the university management, the programme is designed to provide students with analytical and practical expertise in modern crime prevention, national security management, and justice system operations.

ABU noted that the inclusion of Criminology and Security Studies aligns with Nigeria’s increasing need for skilled professionals capable of tackling complex security issues and promoting national peace, safety, and sustainable development.

The course will be open to both UTME and Direct Entry (DE) applicants who meet the university’s admission requirements and have the appropriate subject combinations. The management further advised candidates who have not yet been offered admission to change their course selection to Criminology and Security Studies on the JAMB portal to take advantage of the new opportunity.

“This new programme provides a valuable pathway for students interested in careers in law enforcement, intelligence analysis, social justice, and national security policy,” the university stated.
