The 22nd edition of the Nigerian Polytechnics Senior Staff Games (NIPSSG) has officially commenced in Auchi, Edo State, drawing senior staff athletes from polytechnics across the country for a celebration of sportsmanship, unity and institutional collaboration.
The opening ceremony, hosted by Auchi Polytechnic, marked the beginning of several days of competitive sporting activities designed to promote physical fitness, camaraderie and national cohesion among senior staff members of Nigerian polytechnics.
Declaring the games open, representatives of the host institution and the organizing committee highlighted the importance of sports as a unifying force within the tertiary education sector. They noted that the annual games provide a platform for networking, stress relief and strengthening inter-institutional relationships beyond the classroom and administrative offices.
Participants are expected to compete in various sporting events, including athletics, football, volleyball, table tennis, badminton and other indoor and outdoor games, as institutions vie for honours and medals.
The host management assured delegates of adequate security, well-prepared sporting facilities and a conducive environment throughout the duration of the games. They also expressed confidence that the event would further enhance Auchi Polytechnic’s reputation as a hub for academic and extracurricular excellence.
