Federal Government has approved 109 e-Learning Centres for Primary Education in Nigeria
The Federal Executive Council (FEC) has awarded N964 million for the establishment of satellite-based education system technology in three elementary schools in each of Nigeria’s 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja.
Lai Mohammed, the Minister of Information and Culture, stated this at the end of the Council’s meeting on Wednesday in Abuja, which was headed by President Muhammadu Buhari.
“The Minister of Education received council approval for the award of contract for the deployment of a satellite-based education system for 109 e-Learning centers across the 36 States of the Federation and the Federal Capital Territory,” he stated.
“The contract’s value is N964 million.” The memo’s goal is to establish an e-Learning program in each senatorial district across the country. There are three senatorial districts in each state, plus one in the FCT, for a total of 109 senatorial districts.”
According to the minister, the project’s scope includes the construction of 109 receiver satellite unit modems, servers, and antennas in three schools in each state, as well as the deployment of a satellite-based education system for 4,360 users in senatorial districts.
He also stated that 4,360 android tablets and 109 solar units will be distributed to the schools that would benefit.
In response to recent reports that university teachers are on strike, the minister stated that “the federal government is taking the necessary steps to ensure that the lecturers call off the strike, allowing students to return to their lectures.”
