ASUU has threatened to discipline erring Universities.
“The Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) will prosecute universities that have not complied with its strike decision.” Prof Emmanuel Osodeke, the president of ASUU, stated this in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Abuja on Monday.
For the last five months, the ASUU had been on strike to enforce its demands.
Funding for the revitalization of public institutions, Earned Academic Allowances, usage of the University Transparency Accountability Solution (UTAS), and promotion arrears are among the demands of the striking union.
NAN, on the other hand, says that few union members have left the strike to resume their academic pursuits since the union went on strike.
“Those who have backed out of our continuing strike will be punished appropriately,” Osodeke said.
“We’ll make certain to question them, and we’ll follow up in the proper manner.” “In compliance with the union, we’ve even questioned some of them,” he stated.
There has been no additional meeting since the previous Tripartite Plus meeting summoned by the Chief of Staff to the President over a month ago on the ongoing industrial action, according to Osodeke.
He stated that nothing solid came out of the most recent discussion conducted at the property.
“We haven’t been summoned to any additional meetings since then, and the government hasn’t offered us anything; all they’ve asked us to do is meet with the committee.”
He also stated that the union and the government will meet within the next week. (NAN)
