In a bid to improve postgraduate operations and deepen institutional collaboration, the Management of MacPherson University (McU), Seriki Sotayo, Ogun State, has undertaken a strategic working visit to the Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta (FUNAAB) to understudy its postgraduate school administration.
The engagement, held at FUNAAB’s Postgraduate School, served as an interactive knowledge exchange platform, focusing on key areas such as postgraduate coordination, administrative efficiency, quality assurance, and sustainable academic development.
Welcoming the delegation, Prof. Gboyega Adebayo, Dean of the Postgraduate School at FUNAAB, described postgraduate administration as both demanding and rewarding, noting that maintaining excellence in postgraduate education requires continuous learning and institutional collaboration.
He commended MacPherson University for its proactive initiative to learn from established institutions, emphasizing that FUNAAB remains committed to promoting a culture of mentorship and knowledge-sharing across Nigeria’s higher education system.
Prof. Adebayo also highlighted the connection between both institutions through Dr. Michael Osho, Acting Dean of McU’s College of Postgraduate Studies and a FUNAAB alumnus, who earned all his degrees from the university. “Dr. Osho’s academic journey is a reflection of the quality and integrity embedded in our postgraduate programmes,” he remarked.
Expressing appreciation, Dr. Osho lauded FUNAAB’s management for the warm reception and open exchange of ideas. He explained that the visit aimed to study FUNAAB’s administrative model and adopt best practices that would strengthen McU’s postgraduate framework.
“We are here to learn from a system that has evolved successfully over the years,” he said. “Our goal is to deepen our understanding of postgraduate administration, explore collaborative opportunities, and adopt innovative approaches to enhance postgraduate training and research at MacPherson University.”
The McU delegation included Mrs. Olanike Adesida, Secretary of the College of Postgraduate Studies; Dr. Emmanuel Awojeko, Sub-Dean, Postgraduate School; and Dr. Oyetunji Taiwo, Postgraduate Coordinator, Accounting and Finance Department.
The visit aligns with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDG 4: Quality Education, SDG 16: Peace, Justice and Strong Institutions, and SDG 17: Partnerships for the Goals), underscoring McU’s commitment to building strong academic standards through collaboration and institutional mentorship.
The meeting concluded with an interactive session, where both universities reaffirmed their dedication to promoting excellence, innovation, and sustainable partnerships in Nigeria’s higher education sector.
