The executives and members of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria (ICAN), Ado-Ekiti & District Society, on Friday paid a courtesy visit to the Ekiti State Internal Revenue Service (EKIRS) as part of events marking the 2025 International Accounting Week in Ado-Ekiti.

This year’s theme, “Our Youth, Our Future,” underscores the vital role of the accounting profession in nation-building and seeks to inspire young professionals to uphold integrity, transparency, and ethical financial practices as cornerstones of sustainable national development.

During the visit, the Chairman of ICAN Ado-Ekiti & District Society, Mrs. Olufunso Oludare, presented a recognition plaque to the Executive Chairman of EKIRS, Mr. Olaniran Olatona, in acknowledgment of his exemplary leadership and commitment to advancing efficient tax administration and transparency in Ekiti State.

Mrs. Oludare lauded EKIRS for its ongoing reforms and technological innovations that have enhanced tax collection processes, improved fiscal responsibility, and strengthened public trust. She described the partnership between ICAN and EKIRS as a model for promoting accountability, capacity building, and sound financial management within the state.

“Our collaboration is a testament to the shared vision of financial discipline and professional excellence. Together, we are building a legacy that will empower young accountants to uphold ethics and contribute meaningfully to Nigeria’s economic growth,” she said.

Responding, Mr. Olaniran Olatona thanked ICAN for the recognition and reaffirmed EKIRS’ commitment to global best practices in revenue collection and fiscal administration. He commended ICAN’s continued advocacy for transparency and its role in strengthening responsible governance through professional education.

The event also featured interactive sessions between ICAN members and EKIRS officials, where both organizations explored new strategies to deepen collaboration, enhance tax education, and increase youth participation in financial management.

Notable attendees included Dr. Adebayo Osesusi, Vice-Chairman of ICAN Ado-Ekiti & District Society; Prince Adeniyi Ayodeji Oyebade, immediate past Chairman and Patron; and other distinguished members of the district society.

The visit concluded with group photographs and renewed pledges by both institutions to uphold the values of professionalism, accountability, and service to the public good.
