In fact, tomatoes contain many enzymes that act as natural exfoliates. You can also use tomatoes with sugar as a gentle facial scrub. Tomatoes contain acids but are gentle on the skin, so you can safely use them even with sensitive skin.

Unrest As Thugs Invade Lagos School and Hunt Students

Published

Up to 40 thugs invaded a private school, Shalom Group of Schools, in Baruwa, Ipaja, Lagos State, on Saturday.

We are told that students and school administrators have been denied entry to the facility because the main entrance has been blocked by squatters, commonly known as Omo-Onile.

School owner Adedayo Odeka confirmed the incident to reporters on Monday, saying the thugs were led by a man identified as Kaka.

According to her, thugs broke through fences and school gates to enter the compound, forcing residents to leave the school.

Odeka said she is not aware of any court rulings regarding the land, indicating that it was given to her by the federal government and that she occupied the land for 30 years.

She noted that the incident had been reported to the Ipaja police station and called on the authorities to arrest and prosecute the suspects.

She said, “Kaka claimed that they won a court judgment to take possession of our land. I told him to show me the judgment, as I was not aware of any court case, let alone a judgment, but he refused,” she added.

“Coming out overnight and claiming the land is uncalled for.” This land, we have been occupying it for 30 years; students have been graduating year in, year out. The land is a federal government allocation; we don’t have any dealings with Omo Onile; we have all our documents.

“When the case was reported, the police reluctantly followed us to the site after much pressure but could not act as the hoodlums continued with the erection of the structures.”

One boarding student at the school, Success Afolayan, said she felt hurt when thugs invaded the school.

She added that the incident will disrupt their academic activities as students prepare for WASCE, NECO, and JAMB.

She said, “This is going to affect our education, as we do not know when it will be resolved.” The school principal, Mrs. Oluwatoyin Okafor, said the miscreants destroyed school property. They destroyed the wall and iron rails and burglarized the generator house.

“We were not given an audience; the security agents were standing by their sides with guns, threatening to shoot us if we talked.”

“We were left with no option but to call the parents of the boarders, who live in Lagos, to pick them up, while we pleaded with some teachers and parents to take those who live outside Lagos home with them.

“Our students are preparing for WASCE, NECO, and JAMB; they just came to disrupt the school activities.”

State Police public relations officer Benjamin Hundeyin, who confirmed the incident, urged the parties to resolve it amicably.

The Ojo Administration of Lagos State University (LASU) has instructed all of its professors to ensure that they do not allow any students to dress indecently in the classroom.

In a statement by the Acting Director of the Center for Information, Press, and Public Relations, Mr. Olaniyi Jeariogbe, the university said that the university’s vice chancellor, Professor Ibiyemi Olatunji-Bello, is no longer comfortable with the continuous disregard for the university’s existing rules and regulations governing how students dress on campus.

He said the Vice Chancellor on this matter has informed the college provost, deans of faculties, heads of departments, as well as faculty officials at the main and subsidiary campuses, to implement the dress code policies jointly.

The university listed 15 styles of dress that the management considers indecent for students on campus.

These include the wearing of see-through skirts, skimpy skirts, and other clothing that exposes sensitive parts of the body, especially for ladies; wearing torn, dirty jeans with holes or obscene messages about the subconscious; wearing baggy, saggy, “yansh” (meaning bum), low-rise, and any other form of indecent pants; and wearing tight clothing such as shirts and tops with obscene, obscene, or seductive words.

It also includes wearing unbuttoned or poorly buttoned shirts, as well as rolled-up sleeves or collars; wearing a cap or covering your face (wearing very dark tinted glasses); piercing and tattooing; the fact that male students wear earrings and necklaces; and the large number of students wearing nose rings, earrings, and necklaces.

Others wear uncomfortable heels to class and the library; male students braid, knit, and stroke their hair; wear slippers; and wear ugly, messy, extraordinarily fake or dyed artificial hair, dyed hair/lashes/light brown, attached long eyelashes, artificial pigtails, and long fingernails.

The university said all students should dress modestly to be socially acceptable, stressing that any student who broke the rules would not be allowed into the classroom.
